"An exercise in high style that even the most unredeemably rational among moviegoers should find enormously enjoyable." -TIME Magazine http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,918515,00.html"Carrie is not a terrible movie. It has a good sense of style and vividly builds momentum. But the movie is not scary; it's just violent, abhorrent. It contains all the necessary ingredients to make for an appetizing, suspenseful creep show, but it never delivers." -filmcritic.com http://www.filmcritic.com/misc/emporium.nsf/reviews/Carrie-(1976)
"
It is sometimes funny in a puzzling kind of way, it is generally overwrought in an irritating kind of way, and once in a while it is inappropriately touching. " --New York Times http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1003625-carrie/?critic=columns&sortby=rotten&name_order=asc&view=#contentReviews

Plot Synopsis
Carrie is about a high school girl who is widely unpopular and not very social. She gets her first period in the gym shower and is fearful, as her mother is a religious zealot who has never explained such things to her daughter. Carrie's peers begin laughing and taunting her and throwing feminine products at her while she cowers in the shower, afraid and not understand why she is bleeding. The girls (peers) are disciplined for this behavior and could ultimately lose the privilege of purchasing prom tickets. A couple of the girls are very outraged, however one girl feels badly for Carrie and asks her boyfriend, Tommy Ross to take Carrie to the prom, he obliges. Everyone is not happy, however and soon a revenge plot is in place with the purpose to embarrass Carrie at the prom. The revenge plan takes place and Carrie cannot handle what has happened and her telekinetic powers begin to destroy the whole scene... What happens next is murder and mayhem. -
