Caron Butler was born in Racine, Wisconsin, he was arrested 15 times before the age of 15. Butler played in AAU basketball in '98 and '99. After a short career at Washington Park High School, he went at Maine Central Institute. He played for UConn at the college for coach Jim Calhoun for only two years. In his first year, Butler led the Huskies, only two years removed from a National Championship, in both scoring and rebounding with 15.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game respectively. In 2001 he join US team that took gold in FIBA World Championship for Young Men. In the sophomore season. Butler averaged 20.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, leading University of Connecticut to both regular season and tournament Big East titles.
Butler led the Huskies to the Elite 8 of the NCAA basketball tournament. He scored 32 points, but UConn lost a close game against Maryland Terrapins. After the season Butler was pick in the 2002 NBA Draft, selected with the 10th overall pick by the Miami Heat. In his first season with Miami, he averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds. The second season wasn't so good, his stats past to 9 points and 4 rebounds per game, cause an injury he played only 68 games in his second year. At the end of the 2004 season, Butler was traded along with Lamar Odom and Brian Grant to the Lakers in exchange for Shaquille O'Neal.

Caron Butler 2009-10 Season
After 4 great season in Washington, on February 13, 2010 was traded to the Dallas Mavericks along with center Brendan Haywood, and guard Deshawn Stevenson, for swingman Josh Howard, forward/center Drew Gooden, forward James Singleton, and guard Quinton Ross. CaronButler in 2010 is playing for Dallas Mavericks with an average of 15 points and 5 rebounds per game in 26 games, after 47 games playing for Washington Wizard scoring 16.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Caron Butler 2007-08 Season
On February 13, 2008, Butler was selected as a reserve for the East in the 2008 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans, but he suffered an injury and Ray Allen took his place.
