The States of North Carolina and South Carolina prohibit ticket scalping, but does allow resellers to collect a service fee ($3.00 in NC, $1.00 in SC). At the Bank of America Stadium a ticket cannot be sold for more than $3.00 above face value.http://www.cga.ct.gov/2006/rpt/2006-R-0761.htm
However, selling a ticket on the Internet is not governed by this law, and ticket re-sellers will usually go this route for the Carolina games. If you're going to purchase a ticket on the internet from a broker or an auction site, check the legitimacy of these companies. A "BBB" (Better Business Bureau) seal is a good indicator. The BBB also offered these suggestions:
- If buying from someone on a site like E-Bay, check the customer history of the seller and customer comments.
- Purchase the ticket on that site, if the seller suggests that you purchase the ticket privately, decline the offer.
- Never pay with cash or a wire transfer.http://www.newsobserver.com/2009/01/02/83837/panthers-let-scalpers-sell-on.html
Some people looking to sell tickets with place ads in local newspapers or on Craigslist. Always be cautious when answering ads.
