Carnegie Hall announced they were going to renovate the space above the building in 2007. As many as 43 residents were moved from their apartments. One of the residents, 96-year-old Editta Sherman, refuses to leave. The renovations are intended provide new space for classrooms for the 115,000 students of music and art.
