Carmine Infantino is an American comic book artist and editor.
Career
Carmine Infantino's 1956 re-imagining of the Flash is considered the beginning of the Silver Age of comic books, when the industry shifted emphasis from producing horror, romance, and western books to super-hero titles. In 1971, Infantino was made publisher of DC Comics in an attempt to raise the fortunes of the then-flagging company. During his tenure, Infantino modernized characters and recruited talent like Neal Adams, Denny O'Neil and Jack Kirby. He also collaborated with screenwriter Mario Puzo on the Superman movie.
Infantino worked as a freelance artist for Marvel, DC and Warren following his replacement by Jenette Kahn as publisher of DC Comics.
