American Idol contestant Carly Smithson performed the song "The Show Must Go On" on the April 8, 2008 episode of the hit televised singing competition. The song was originally recorded by the rock band Queen.

1. Randy: "It started out good, in the middle got a little pitchy and end the ended up OK. It was disconnected for me."
2. Paula: "There's something I agree with a little bit, but your voice is pretty perfect. I just didn't feel the connection and didn't feel engaged with your performance."
3. Simon: "You look good. I thought it was an unusual song choice and you lost control of the song at the end. It came out as an angry performance, and again, you choose the wrong song."
