Carlos Dunlap is a defensive end who played college football at the University of Florida. After the 2009 season, he announced he would forego his senior year at Florida to enter the NFL draft. The 6-6, 290-pound Dunlap He has been projected as a possible first-round pick. He played in 40 games during his college career, starting 14, and finished with 84 tackles. Dunlap earned the nicknames “Freak II” and “Baby Freak" for his speed and pass-rushing ability after all-time great Florida defensive end Jevon Kearse who was known as “The Freak”. As a senior at Fort Dorchester High School in North Charleston, South Carolina, Dunlap recorded 105 tackles and 24 sacks. On December 2, 2009, Dunlap was arrested for DWI and suspended for the Southeastern Conference championship game against No. 2 Alabama, which then top-ranked Florida lost. Dunlap was pulled overnear campus and 3:25 a.m. and booked into jail, but was released on his own recognizance after six hours without bail because of no prior arrests. Dunlap was selected to the all-SEC first team by the Associated Press, Sporting News and league coaches in 2009. He also was selected as a semifinalist for the Lombardi Award while being named to the watch lists for the Ted Hendricks, Chuck Bednarik and Bronko Nagurski awards. Dunlap finished with 19.5 sacks at Florida, which is tied for 10th on the school's all-time list. He played in all 13 games as a junior, starting 12, and concluded the season with 9.0 sacks.

As a sophomore, Dunlap was named the defensive Most Valuable Player in the 2009 national championship game in which the Gators defeated Oklahoma, 24-14.Dunlap blocked three punts in 2008, the most for any Florida player during Urban Meyer's tenure as coach. He also blocked a field goal in the national title contest. Dunlap led the Gators with 13.5 tackles for losses and 9.5 sacks. He also paced the SEC in sacks and ranked fifth in tackles for losses. In 2007, Dunlap was named to the SEC's freshman academic honor roll. He did not start as a freshman, but played in all 13 Florida games, primarily as a pass rusher. Dunlap also saw action on special teams. His most memorable play as a freshman was a blocked punt against Troy that led to a touchdown.
