Carlos Beltran is an All-Star Center Fielder for the New York Mets.

On November 5, 2008, Beltran earned his third straight gold glove award. After receiving the honor Beltran stated,"I take a lot of pride in being a complete player. Beltran is considered a legitimate five-tool player with excellent speed, power, defense, a strong throwing arm, and the ability to hit for average. At the time of the signing, he was the highest paid player in Mets franchise history with a contract worth more than $119 Million dollars over 7 seasons.

Carlos Ivan Beltran was born in Manati, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1977. He graduated from Fernando Callego High School where he played baseball and volleyball.

Beltran made his major league debut on September 14, 1998. In 1999, hewas named the starting center fielder for the Kansas City Royals. He would go on to win the American League Rookie Of The Year Award. He continued to put up solid numbers for several years than in 2004 he was traded to the Houston Astros. During the 2004 playoffs, with the Astros, he tied the record for most home runs in the playoffs with eight. In 2005, Beltran signed as a free agent with the New York Mets, making him at the time of the signing, the highest paid player in franchise history.
