    Carlos Ivan Beltran was born in Manati, Puerto Rico on April 24, 1977. He graduated from Fernando Callego High School where he played baseball and volleyball.
  • Pro Career

    Beltran made his major league debut on September 14, 1998. In 1999, hewas named the starting center fielder for the Kansas City Royals. He would go on to win the American League Rookie Of The Year Award. He continued to put up solid numbers for several years than in 2004 he was traded to the Houston Astros. During the 2004 playoffs, with the Astros, he tied the record for most home runs in the playoffs with eight. In 2005, Beltran signed as a free agent with the New York Mets, making him at the time of the signing, the highest paid player in franchise history.
