Carla Climbs to the Top
Early in the game on Top Chef New York, Carla Hall had some difficulty getting off the ground. Hall said often that she felt like her competitors underestimated her after she landed on the bottom of several elimination challenges, but likened the experience to being on the game show Jeopardy! and having all of the questions that you know the answers to come up. Hall surprised her fellow cheftestants when she started winning challenge after challenge toward the end of the competition, eventually winning the first half of the season finale, a new car and landing one of the treasured spots in the second half of the season finale.Black Voices: Carla Hall of Top Chef Cooks with Black Voices
Top Chef Grand Prize
The competitors of Top Chef go head to head for a grand prize of $100,000 seed money to help them get a new restaurant off the ground. The winner also receives a featured spread in Food & Wine magazine.
