Carla Gugino is an film and stage actress and former model who has appeared in such notable films as Threshold, Sin City and Spy Kids. Growing up in California, Gugino was an excellent student and eventually graduated as the valedictorian of her class. At age 15 she spent a brief period in New York City, trying her luck as a runway model. She abandoned the idea after being overwhelmed by the experience. At the suggestion of Carol Merrill, her aunt, she decided to pursue acting. Her on screen debut was on an episode of Who's the Boss? in 1988 and from there she continued to get small roles on television. She was able to break into film in the early 1990s and landed roles in Son in Law, This Boy's Life and Miami Rhapsody. She has since found steady work on both the big and little screen with roles on Chicago Hope, Entourage, Karen Sisco, The One and Threshold.
