    After blowing an engine in practice for the May 16, 2009, Sprint Showdown at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Long's crew replaced the engine, sending the bad engine to NASCAR officials per policy. The engine was found to be in excess of the maximum engine size of 358.000 cubic-inch displacement, which is a violation of NASCAR rules.     Both Long and his wife, the owner of the car, were suspended for 12 races and docked 200 driver and owner points respectively. Long's crew chief, Charles Swing, was fined $200,000, suspended 12 races and placed on probation until the end of 2009.
