Carl Bernstein is an author and journalist, noted for his role in exposing the Watergate break-in while working for The Washington Post. Bernstein, as well as Post reporter Bob Woodward, received numerous awards for his role in breaking the Watergate scandal, including the Pulitzer Prize in 1973. The breaking of the Watergate scandal dealt a serious blow to the presidency of Richard Nixon, eventually resulting in a congressional investigation and the resignation of Nixon.
Career after Watergate
Bernstein did not receive the same accolades as Bob Woodward at the Washington Post after the two men broke the Watergate scandal. He quit the Post in 1976 and persued other journalistic efforts, including working as the Washington Bureau Chief and senior correspondent for ABC News and teaching at New York University. Bernstein has written several books since the Nixon administration, including his most recent, A Woman In Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton.
