Caribou is the music project of Daniel V. Snaith, who also released albums as Manitoba. He is the son of a mathematics professor at the University of Sheffield, and the brother a mathematics professor at the University of Bristol in London, England. In 2005 Snaith received a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Imperial College London.

Name Change
Snaith previously recorded under the stage name Manitoba, but changed it in 2004 under threat of an lawsuit by American artist Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba, who had used the surname professionally since the 1970s. Snaith is quoted as saying that he chose the name Caribou while on an LSD trip with friends in the Canadian wilderness.Discography
