Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency medical procedure consisting of a combination of rescue breathing and chest compressions delivered to victims thought to be in cardiac arrest. It can be performed by emergency medical professionals, laymen, or hospital personnel. While CPR is unlikely to restart the heart it can keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and heard, delaying tissue death and extending the window of opportunity for a successful resuscitation without permanent brain damage.http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4479 http://www.redcross.org/services/hss/courses/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiopulmonary_resuscitation http://www.thirdage.com/encyclopedia/anoxic-brain-damage-anoxic-brain-injury-hypoxic-brain-injury
