• Attractions

  Parque Zoológico de Caricuao is the main zoo in Caracas and was built on a old coffee plantation. This zoo includes South American animals such as birds, reptiles, imported felines and elephants. This is a must for families traveling with children. Other sites of interest include the Panteón Nacional, the San Francisco Church and the Los Próceres Monument. If you want to enjoy the outdoors visit Macarao National Park or hike El Volcán Mountain, the tallest peak in the El Hatillo Municipality

• Museums

  The museum of Colonial Art has exhibitions of Venezuelan art from the past to the present. Other museums of interest include the Fine Arts Museum, Natural Science Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum. If you are traveling with kids, be sure to visit the Children's Museum, this museum caters to teaching children all about science, art and culture.

• Cuisine

  Thanks to the multi-ethnic population, Caracas has a very wide variety of cuisine. From French, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, there is defiantly something for everyone to enjoy. Caracas speciality menus include Pabellón Criollo, empanadas, arepas, hallaca, black roast beef and chicken salad. Typical drinks here include Chicha, guarapo, carato and tizana (mixed beverage with fruits).
