  • A cappuccino is espresso mixed with steamed milk topped with a layer of milk foam.

The name cappuccino finds its origins from the Italian word cappuccio which means "hood" and referred to an order of 17th Century Franciscan monks in Italy called Capuchin, who wore long brown hooded frocks.

In Italy, cappuccinos are usually consumed with breakfast items while in most other countries they are consumed at any time of day or as an after dinner beverage.

A cappuccino differs from a latte in that the latte contains more hot milk and little or no foam.
