History
Originally called the Tangerine Bowl, the first game was played on January 1, 1947. In 1983, the name was changed to the Florida Citrus Bowl, which it was called until 1993. A change in sponsorship prompted another name change in 1994, moving the game to the CompUSA Florida Citrus Bowl. After one year as the Ourhouse.com Florida Citrus Bowl, in 2000, Capital One took over as the main sponsor, for what was called the Capital One Florida Citrus Bowl in 2002 and 2003. The Florida Citrus Bowl was dropped in 2004, settling on simply the Capital One Bowl.http://cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/bowls/bowl_results.php?bowlid=106
