RAW Photography
The RAW Image Format file is considered to be a digital negative, ready to be manipulated in post-production. It is an uncompressed file which contains the complete data from the camera's sensor. The Camera RAW file has a wider dynamic range or color gamut than a JPEG, which allows the user to make adjustments to the image that would not otherwise be possible. RAW files can't be printed directly, and must be manipulated using software like Adobe Lightroom or Apple Aperture.Digital Photography School: RAW vs. JPEG
