The Vixia HF10 is one of several recently introduced Vixia camcorders introduced by Canon within the concept of a tapeless camcorder. The camera records in AVCHD, which stands for Advanced Video Codec High Definition. This is considered to be the next level of recording quality from MiniDVD, and uses memory cards as opposed to actual discs.

Features and Specifications
The physicality of the device makes it more resemble an optical zoom lens camera, as opposed to most generic camcorders. It has a built-in memory with the capacity of 16GB, holding up to two hours of high-quality recording time. There is also the ability to record directly to memory cards of 4GB each. The optical zoom capacity is 12x, and includes an external microphone jack and headphone jack. The resolution is 1920x1080, and it weighs just under 400 grams. Most early reviews praise the HF10 as being more for the experienced videography aficionado and less for the generic consumer. Still, for those wanting the high-end piece, there is an 'Easy Mode' which prevents users for accessing menus and allows them to simply point-and-shoot. -
