On July 18, 2007, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced the second review in two years into whether cannabis should be reclassified as a class B drug. On May 7, 2008 it was reclassified to Class B, over the advice of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, who recommended it remain class C.
