Canine Coronavirus is a highly contagious disease affecting the intestinal tract. Canine coronavirus is transmitted through contact with and infected animal in places like kennels, dog shows and dog parks. The virus lives in the animal’s small intestine causing severe diarrhea and dehydration.
Adult dogs can usually make it through the symptoms within a few days, however puppies can develop more severe symptoms and become dangerously dehydrated, requiring intravenous or subcutaneous fluids and antibiotics.
Canine coronavirus can be prevented with annual vaccines.
