Candy Land is a children's board game produced by Hasbro in 1949. The idea for the game was developed and submitted by Eleanor Abbott. Eleanor had Polio. She developed the game for children suffering from the disease. In the game players race to the finish line to save the king. The trail is made up of six colors, and players move forward or backward according to randomly drawn cards that dictate what color to proceed to. This game is easy for younger children to play because there is no counting and little reading involved. The game teaches young children colors and how to take turns. After children learn the game they can continue to play it on their own.
