Canada Helicopter Crash

  • A helicopter crashed into the Atlantic waters 47 nautical miles south-east of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, on March 12, 2009. 18 people were on board and rescuers found one survivor. The search effort was called off in the evening of March 13, 2009 because rescuers said there was no longer any hope of finding survivors.BBC: 'No hope' for missing Canadians (March 13, 2009) On March 16, 2009, nine bodies were recovered after a private supply vessel was dispatched in a mission to recover the bodies of those missing from the crash.
