Canadian professional hockey player Cam Ward plays with the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.
NHL Career
Ward was drafted 25th overall in the 2002 NHL draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. He continued to play for his junior team, the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, for two years after the draft. During the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Ward joined the Hurricanes' American Hockey League affiliate, the Lowell Lock Monsters. He began the 2005-06 season in the AHL, but was called up to the Hurricanes and led the team to their 2006 Stanley Cup Championship. Ward was acknowledged for his playoff performance when he was selected for the Conn Symthe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs.
