Calvinball
One of the strip's perennial subjects was the game of Calvinball, a chaotic, frequently violent rejection of the notion of organized team sports. The game was introduced in as part of a three-week story arc in 1990, in which Calvin is embarrassed and insulted by an organized game of baseball, and decides to create his own sport in protest. The only rule of Calvinball is that you cannot play by the same rules twice.
