• Call of Duty 5??

    Originally titled Call of Duty 5, Call of Duty: World at War is a first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. It is the fifth installment in the Call of Duty series, excluding expansion packs. The game's setting returns to series' trademark World War II setting , after the previous title, Modern Warfare was set in present day. It focuses on the Pacific Theater and Eastern Front of World War II.

  • Gameplay

    Call of Duty World at War adopts many similar gameplay aspects and modes from previous games in the serious, with few additions. The game includes vehicles, and is slightly more open-ended that previous Call of Duty games as there are multiple ways to complete missions and objectives. World at War includes a similar multiplayer experience to Call of Duty 4. All versions of the game use a similar perk and ranking system and feature six different multiplayer modes, including team deathmatch and capture-the-flag. The Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions contain 13 multiplayer maps, with three map packs comprising of three maps each being released via downloadable content. The Wii version contains only eight multiplayer maps and has yet to receive any map packs.

    When the player reaches level 65 on multiplayer, they unlock the option to gain "prestige". If they choose to do so, they will return to level 1 and will gain an extra weapon slot and a new symbol. Further weapon slots are available once you reach prestige 2, 4, 7 and 10. Thus a player can end up with a total of 10 weapon slots as opposed to 5. It is possible to gain prestige up to ten times, each time the player gains a different symbol unique to that level of prestige.

    The game also features a co-operative campain mode which supports two players via split screen and up to four players online. The Wii version does not include online co-op, but two players can play through a "squadmate co-op" mode which allows both players to experience the game through the same screen and point of view.

  • Story

    Set during World War II, Call of Duty World at War features two separate campaigns, telling two different stories. One of the campaigns is told from the Unites States perspective about the battles with the Japanese in the Pacific. The other campaign follows the Soviets as they marched on Berlin.
