Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter game and the first game in the Call of Duty series set outside the World War II setting and in modern times.
The game was released on November 5, 2007. It was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, with a M for Mature rating. It is the fourth episode in the Call of Duty series and it is followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Storyline
The story, from the perspectives of a United States Marine and a British SAS operative, takes place during a fictional near-future war pitting the United States, European countries, and Russian Loyalist allies against Russian Ultranationalists and Middle Eastern rebels, featuring real-world weapons and vehicles. Locations include the Middle East, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Pripyat.
Gameplay
A player can stand, kneel or lay prone, each affecting their movement, accuracy, and stealth. Thereare no armor or health powerups, if a player is injured, they must take cover to give their body time to recuperate. The screen will display a red glow until the character's heartbeat increases. The player can take the role of different characters in single-player campaigns, and he will be able to change between characters, in order to complete a certain mission. There are different objectives to be completed during a mission, and most of the time the player will receive help from allies. To unlock different bonuses, the player can gather laptop computers containing enemy intelligence. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare features 37 achievements.
