Creek is the name of one of the maps included in the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack, which comes with the Game of the Year Edition of the game, or can be downloaded over Xbox Live Marketplace. Robert Bowling, the Community Manager at Infinity Ward, describes the map's design as a "wide, open space. We had a lot of people who wanted larger, bigger maps." The Creek map is in fact a large outdoor wilderness area, with trees, bushes, grass, and of course a large, deep creek. Unlike the Killhouse map which resembles the game's single-player training level, Creek is an entirely original map that doesn't exist anywhere else in the game. There is also a "cave system" included in the Creek map, which allows players to travel through the caves under cover, and reach the ridge section by flanking. This provides balance to the map so that players can play as snipers, or can quickly travel around the map under cover and fight in a more close-ranged stye. The Variety Map Pack is included with the Game of the Year edition of COD4, which was released on April 1, 2008 and is also available for 800 MS Points of Xbox Live Marketplace staring April 10, 2008.
