Introduction
- This guide takes you through the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 2 from start to finish. Like all of the games in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty 2 has four difficulty levels ranging from Greenhorn to Veteran. If you are new to first person shooters, we suggest playing on the Greenhorn level. If you are more comfortable with the genre, try one of the more advanced levels. The enemies on the more advanced difficulty levels are not necessarily tougher; they just shoot straighter and you lose life faster.

Basics
- YouTube: Call of Duty 2 - Intro (Time: 2:09)
- Cover is essential. If you're not behind it, you're going to get shot. The game does not differentiate between "hard" cover and "soft" cover. A wooden door provides as much protection as a steel plate.
- Watch the Grenade Indicator. It tells you a grenade has landed nearby and where it is. Grenade hits are dangerous on Greenhorn and usually fatal on all other difficulty levels.
- Stay low. You run slower, but it also decreases the chance you'll get shot. Only stand to run between cover or to keep up with your allies.
- Aim down the sights, shoot and release the aim button, then aim again. Doing so will snap you between targets. This can be disabled in the Options menu.
- Wait until your target drops his weapon before you move on to the next. If he doesn't drop his weapon he's not dead. Beware of enemies crawling on the ground. They may draw a pistol and take up to three shots at you before they die.
- If you see your vision become rimmed in red, get to cover fast! This indicates that you are near death. You must spend a few moments out of combat to recover. The time it takes to recover increases with the difficulty level.
- There are no med kits.

Weapons
- Each campaign will give you different weapons. Each weapon is useful in different situations.
- Battle rifles like the M-1 Garand, M-1A1, Lee Enfield, Kar 98, Gewehr 43 and Mosin-Nagant are good for medium to long-range combat. They fire slowly and they hit hard. Battle rifles will typically kill in 1-3 shots.
- Submachine guns like the Thompson, PPSh, MP-40, and the Sten are good for short-range combat. They fire very quickly and are ideal for clearing buildings.
- Sniper rifles like the Scoped Kar 98 and the Springfield are good for long-range combat. They excel at hitting distant targets with extreme accuracy. Sniper rifles are rare as is ammunition for them.
- Weapons like the BAR and Bren have multiple uses. They are accurate and powerful, but rare. The only way you will find a BAR is off a dead friendly trooper.
- If you run out of ammo for your allied weapon, grab an enemy weapon. The MP-40 and the Kar 98 can be found on every level in the game. You are virtually guaranteed never to run out of ammunition if you use them.
- Fixed weapons like the Browning .30 caliber and the MG-42 are useful in limited instances. They are only useful if a commanding officer tells you to use one. They are very powerful and do not use ammunition. The catch is that you cannot move if you're using one. If you see grenades coming, drop the machine gun and crouch.
- Pistols are only for the hardcore soldier. You will almost never find a reload for one unless you use the Luger. The only thing they are good for is letting you run a little faster.
- Note: Heavy weapons like the BAR will cause you to run slower than normal. Switching to a lighter weapon will let you run faster.

- Move up until you get to the last sandbag wall before the building. Allow your allies to catch up before you start the final push.
- Use your STV40 or PPSh to pick off the enemies on the other side of the barricade. You may be running low on ammunition at this point. If you run dry, sneak back across the field and find a replacement.
- Tip: There are a pair of MG-42s at the enemy line. Try and take those gunners out first.
- Move up to the pair of wooden boxes in front of the enemy line as quickly as you can.
- Move into the building and start clearing the ground floor. If you don't have a submachine gun, grab one. There should be plenty of MP-40s on the ground.
- Head up the stairs near where you came in once the ground floor is clear. Lt. Leonov will talk of destroying the building.
