History
California State University, Monterey Bay was established in 1994, on the grounds of a former 77 year old Army base at Ford Ord. Csumb.edu: HistoryOne of the many challenges that the college faced when it first opened, was converting the base structure and buildings to an educational environment. The college would continue to develop and transform over its first nine years, then in 2003, the university finally obtained the status of accredited institution of higher education.
