The California State Fair is held each summer at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California. According to estimates, the event brings in $250 million to the surrounding region. The first California State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco. It permanently moved to Sacramento in 1859. The primary exhibits during the early festivities were agricultural, such as vegetable growing contests and horse exhibitions. 2010 California State Fair Information
The 2010 California State Fair was held from July 14 through August 1, 2010. Ticket prices were $12 for adults, $8 for children ages 5 to 12 and $10 for seniors over the age of 62. Children 4 and under were admitted for free. All-day wristbands were also available that allowed unlimited rides on midway attractions. These wristbands cost $30 during the week and $35 on weekends. Monorail View of the 2009 California State Fair
The California State Fair features a scenic monorail train that takes visitors on a tour of the fairgrounds. Riders can see all the attractions located on the midway, including thrill rides and games.
