Expansion Plan
In October 2007, California Adventure Park announced plans for a massive expansion. This includes re-envisioning for various areas of the park, including Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, and Paradise Pier. This is expected to cost $1.1 billion dollars.
Buena Vista Street
Previously named the Sunshine Plaza, the Buena Vista street will be a representation of Los Angeles in the 1920s, when Walt Disney himself first arrived there. With mission-style architecture, a reincarnation of the Carthay Circle Theater, and sidewalks and streets added to make it feel more like a neighborhood - this new area will be the main focal point of the park.
Hollywoodland
The old Hollywood Pictures Backlot will now be named Hollywoodland, and will be a depiction of the glitzy 1930's Hollywood life. The popular stage there, "Playhouse Disney Live on Stage" will have new shows, and a trolley will go from Buena Vista Street through Hollywoodland.
Cars Land
There will be a whole new Cars Land based on the Disney film Cars, and will have 12 acres and three attractions. There will be a test track which will be one of the most expensive rides ever built, at 200 million dollars. Construction began on this in July 2009.
Paradise Pier
Paradise Pier will now be a romantic Victorian-themed boardwalk.
