  • Calgary, with a population of approximately 1.1 million (2008), is the fifth largest city in Canada, and the third most diverse city in Canada in terms of visible minorities. Located in the Rocky Mountains, Calgary is well known for winter sports, and hosted Canada's first Winter Olympic Games in 1988. The Calgary Stampede, held every year in July, brings in approximately 1.2 million visitors and is the single largest event in Canada.
