• C.S. Lewis was an Irish author, whose work concentrated on defending the Christian faith through his essays, children's books, and works of fiction. The Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity, and The Screwtape Letters were among his most successful endeavors.
  • Career

C.S. Lewis began his extensive study in Christianity as a professor at Oxford University for almost twenty years (from 1925-1954). It was during his tenure at Oxford that he wrote the most personal works about his faith The Pilgrim's Regress and Mere Christianity. In the early 1950s Lewis began to write a series of children's books called The Chronicles of Narnia. They dealt with many of the spiritual themes he would often touch upon in his non-fiction work, but he presented the information in a much more palatable form. The Chronicles have been adapted several times over the years. Most recently the second book in the series Prince Caspian was released as a movie in 2008.
