Brigham Young University Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii) is located in the town of Laie on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. This school is affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as are its sister schools, Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and BYU Idaho. It was named for the Mormon religious leader Brigham Young. Its athletic teams belong to the Pacific West Conference.
BYUH History
BYU Hawaii was founded in 1955 under the name Church College of Hawaii to fulfill the educational needs of the LDS population of Hawaii. It issued its first degrees in 1961 and was renamed in 1974.BYUH: About BYUH: Brief History
