Buzz Aldrin Dancing With The Stars

Astronaut, Buzz Aldrin will participate on Dancing With the Stars 10th season. Buzz Aldrin, also known as the second man on the moon, is a former NASA’s astronaut that will compete with a Baywatch Star, Pamela Anderson, and a gold medal figure skater, Evan Lysacek on the 10th season of Dancing With the Stars. It is a TV’s reality show that partners celebrities with professional dancers to win a trophy.

Although he will be the oldest contestant to appear on the show, it will be interesting to watch the former U.S. Air Force dancing with a professional dancer. It will be a challenge to reach the heights achieved when he completed 66 combat missions and received numerous awards such as the Presidential Medal for Freedom, the Harmon International Trophy, etc. ABC will broadcast his dancing performance on Monday, March 22nd. On April 6, 2010, Aldrin was the second celebrity voted off Dancing with the Stars. He is quoted as saying "this was an experience I will never forget".

Life and Career

Buzz Aldrin has a lot of contributions to the space exploration. It began when he made his historic Apollo 11 moonwalk to set foot on another world. Both of his mother and father had a close relation to the army; his mother was the daughter of an army chaplain and his father was an Air Force Colonel.

In 1951, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. A year later, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross after completed 66 fighter missions during the Korean War. He then became an Air Force instructor in Nevada and then four years later, he became a flight commander for a squadron in West Germany (now Germany).

His interest in the U.S. space program made him enrolled in an engineering program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After graduated in 1963 with a Doctor of Science degree in Orbital Mechanics, he was selected by NASA for the Gemini and Apollo space missions.

After retiring from NASA, the Air Force, and his position as commander of the USAF Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base in 1972, he becomes an author. He has authored several books like "Return to Earth", "Men From Earth", "Encounter with Tiber" and "Magnificent Desolation: The Long Journey From the Moon".
