Burnout Legends is the portable version of the arcade style racing series, released alongside Burnout Revenge. The game is available for the PSP and the Nintendo DS. Most of the tracks and stages were similar to the first three games in the Burnout series, but reworked so they could be ported into the portable gaming systems. Many of the gameplay modes from the past series are in the game. The PlayStation Portable version of the game received positive ratings, while the Nintendo DS version of the game received very poor ratings. Critics believe the ratings were varied because the PSP version was developed by the original producers of the game, while the Nintendo DS version was not.

World Tour is the main way to unlock vehicles and courses in the game. Other modes include:

- Time Attack: A one-lap time trial
- Road Rage: Much like past Road Rage modes, players slam into other cars causing big chain reactions to earn points.
- Pursuit: Players compete as the police and chase speeders in a certain amount of time.
