Burnout 3: Takedown is the third game in the racing series Burnout developed by Criterion Games. It's the only game in the series that received a Teen rating. The game is available for the PS2 and Xbox; there were plans for making the game available on the GameCube, but those plans were shelved. The game was published by Electronic Arts, the first time the company published a game in the Burnout series. The game received very high ratings by video game critics, and a large fan base was created.
Fast Facts:
Gameplay:
Much like the two games before it, Burnout 3: Takedown is all about driving at a high speed and creating collisions. There are more than 173 events in offline mode, with 67 cars available to be unlocked. There are several types of modes in the game: two race modes and three crash modes. In Race Mode, the goal is to win a traditional race. In the Crash modes, a player drives toward an intersection at a high rate of speed and tries to begin a major collision involving multiple vehicles. The three Crash modes are similar, but there are slight differences; some of the challenges involve playing with a CPU or human player. Medals are awarded for achieving high scores. The medals can be used to unlock tracks and vehicles.
- Online play: In the Xbox version, online play is available. Players can take part in eight-player Crash events or a six-player race. There is also a Road Rage event where players are divided into two teams. One team receives a head start and must avoid being chased down by the opposition before reaching the finish line.
