One contentious piece of evidence involving Burke was a 911 call placed by mother Patsy Ramsey on December 26, at 5:52 a.m. Both parents told investigators that Burke had been asleep at the time of the call. It was reported in August 1998 that the boy's voice was audible on the tape. In November 1999, the tabloid newspaper The Globe ran a story insinuating that Burke Ramsey was the perpetrator in his sister's murder. In the years after the murder, investigators repeatedly stated that Burke Ramsey was not a suspect in the case.
