  • A Brief History

    The first Burger King, called "Insta Burger King" opened in 1954 in a Miami, Florida suburb. The company went public with an Initial Public Offering in 2006.

  • The Whopper

    Burger King's signature sandwich is the Whopper. The Whopper consists of a 1/4-pound hamburger patty, sesame seed bun, mayonnaise, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and onions. Burger King founder James McLamore originated the sandwich in 1957, and sold it in his restaurants for 37 cents each.
