Bungie Studios

Bungie Studios is a video game production company most known for creating the Halo series. Bungie was founded in 1991 with the intent to develop games for Macintosh computers. While developing a 3rd person Science Fiction action game for Microsoft acquired Bungie and transformed the 3rd person project into the first person Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo was released with the launch of the first Xbox console and was a massive success. The Halo series has spawned two record shattering sequels and have been the lifeblood of the Xbox line of consoles. In October of 2007 Bungie announced it would be spinning off into an independent company. Bungie plans to continue developing games for Microsoft but will now have the option to create games for other platforms as well.
