"Tommy Want Wingy!"
It started in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. Frank and Teressa Bellisimo are credited with concocting the delicacy because they wanted something easy and quick to fix. So they took unused wings from chickens and cooked them in a deep fryer and dipped them in hot sauce. The rest is history. All over the United States, in local bars and restaurants and national restaurant chains such as Hooters, wings are among the most popular appetizers around. They usually are served by the dozen. Some places use breading to enhance the flavor and to make eating the wings less messy. Many locations serving wings will offer Bleu Cheese or other dipping sauce. There are even some establishments that will offer 'boneless' wings. These wings will also often be part of a promotional prop for these establishments, offered at low prices or even for free during sporting events. There are even national annually held events to celebrate people's love of wings, such as the National Buffalo Wing Festival, and the Wing Bowl, held during Super Bowl week every February in Philadelphia.
Hot and Spicy Buffalo Wings Recipe
Paula Deen show how to make Spicy Buffalo Wings. The reason they are called Buffalo Wings are because they originated at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. You start with some disjointed wings. Dry them off well so no water remains on them. Salt them well and drop them into a 350 degree hot oil. Do not dust in them in flour, put them in naked, otherwise it would make a messy blob when you add the sauce. To make the sauce take 1/2 stick butter(1/4 cup) and melt in large pan, you will be adding the cooked wings to it, add hot sauce of your choice, according to the amount of heat that you like. To cut the spiciness of sauce add more butter. Cook chicken wings until nice and crispy, they will be floating on top of oil, then take and drop into sauce. Toss around in the sauce making sure they are all coated. They are ready to eat.
