  • Formation

While founding members Neil Young and Stephen Stills first met at a folk club in Ontario, it wasn't until the two were living in Los Angeles that they got together to form the band. After a stint as the house band at the Whisky a Go Go club in Hollywood, the band signed a contract with Atlantic Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1966.
  • For What Its Worth

While the band only released three studio albums and broke up after a couple of years, the single "For What Its Worth" became their most lasting and enduring song. Written after watching police subdue riots on the Sunset Strip, the Stephen Stills-written song became an anthem of the 1960s and brought the band the biggest success of their career.
