    Many attractions greet visitors from the world famous Buenos Aires Botanical Garden to the Museo de Arte de Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA). Be sure to take advantage of being in the birthplace of the Tango by watching some of the world's best dancers in the many bars and clubs throughout the city. Buenos Aires is also known for its political activity. Political demonstrations and movilizations take place in the famous Plaza de Mayo or in Plaza de los Dos Congresos. Buenos Aires also has the oldest subway in Latin America and visitors can ride antique wagons in the A line.

    According to the last census, Buenos Aires has 3 million people. Along with the Gran Buenos Aires, the entire conurbation is the third largest in Latin America with a combined population of nearly 13 million people.

    Historically, Buenos Aires has been strongly influenced by European culture and is sometimes referred to as the "Paris of South America". Residents of the city are called porteños (portuary).

    Up until the peso crisis of December 2001, Buenos Aires was regarded as Latin America's most expensive city with prices in its Restaurants and Hotels rivaling those of Paris and New York City. After the Peso fell to a third of its former value and stabilized, tourists from all over the world began to flock once again to the city.
