Buddy Guy

Categories: Entertainment | Music | Jazz
  • Buddy Guy is a Grammy award winning blues musician who comes from the Chicago blues style of guitar playing. He has influenced countless blues and rock musicians over the decades, including Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones and Stevie Ray Vaughan (Guy performed in the tribute concert to Vaughan after his death). While with the Chess record label in the 1960s, Guy played on recording sessions with such legendary bluesmen as Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters, but wasn't able to record his own music in the way he desired; his style of live performance included inventive showmanship, high volumes and the use of feedback, which would later be popularized by acts like Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.

Eventually, Guy found his place in the blues scene and began getting the recognition he lacked early in his career. He has released over 40 albums and continues to perform today.
