Bryce Harper is a high school student who is being called the "LeBron James of the MLB." He was featured on the June 8, 2009, cover of Sports Illustrated. The cover of Sports Illustrated featured three of Harpers statistics: 570 foot home runs, 96 mph fastballs, and the fact that he is still only 16 years old. He was named Baseball America's national High School Player of the Year in June 2009.http://www.lasvegassun.com/blogs/high-school-sports-scene/2009/jun/25/harper-first-non-senio-win-national-award/

Bryce Harper Early Eligibility?
Under the MLB draft rules, a prospect needs to have exhausted their high school eligibility before being eligible for the MLB draft. Under that scenario, Bryce Harper would have been eligible to be drafted in 2011.Harper, who completed his sophomore year of high school, obtained his GED this summer, and is now attending the College of Southern Nevada (where his older brother goes to school).http://newsok.com/baseballs-chosen-one-si-cover-boy-harper-says-hes-not-relocating-to-oklahoma/article/3376297?custom_click=rsshttp://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/06/bryce-harper-skips-two-years-of-high-school-for-mlb-draft.html
He has lost his high school eligibility as a result and is now eligible for the MLB draft in the spring of 2010.
Bryce Harper Scouting Buzz
What makes Harper’s batting stance so effective is the unique jerk he does his with leg right before crushing a ball. He uses his leg flicking motion as a spring for gaining extra power when he makes contact. His sometimes violent leg jerk does cause some scouts to worry about potential ankle injuries.—Top 100 Prospectshttp://scoutingthesports.com/?p=2794His weakest present tool is his running ability, but he is an easy MLB average runner who has time to improve in that area.—Perfect Gamehttp://www.perfectgame.org/stories/08_06_27_natural_phenom_for_2011/index.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1
