Bryce Canyon National Park is a national park that is located in the southwestern region of the state of Utah. While not an actual canyon, Bryce is known for its breathtaking scenery and unique geological structures and rock formations - features that were created by thousands of years of ice and water erosion. It is a wonderful part of any U.S. National Park Vacation.
Bryce exceeds 2,000 feet and because of that has three distinct climatic zones. They are spruce/fir forest, Ponderosa Pine forest, and Pinyon Pine/juniper forest. This creates a high biodiversity where you can see over 100 species of birds, dozens of mammals and over one thousand plant species. Even with all that is it the rock formations or "hoodoos" that steal the show. The limestone rock glows with every sunrise and sunset.
Named after the Mormon pioneer Ebenezer Bryce, the area was designated a National Park on September 15, 1928. Bryce Canyon National Park is located in close proximity to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park and definitely a "must-see" for travelers in the southwest region of the United States.
