Bryan Singer is an American director and producer. He grew up in New Jersey and has said that his experience as a minority, he is Jewish and Gay, has had a strong influence on his films. Singer earned worldwide acclaim for his breakout 1995 film The Usual Suspects. He went on to direct X-men, X2, and Superman Returns. Singer has worked on many projects related to or derived from science fiction and comic book stories and has become popular among fans of these genres. His films also commonly deal with the role of the outsider. He is currently working on the TV Show House M.D. and the movie Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise as Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg, a man who plotted to assassinate Hitler.
