  • Professional ice hockey player Bryan Berard has played in the National Hockey League since 1996. In 2008, Berard was invited to the Philadelphia Flyers training camp, however he was released prior to the 2008-09 regular season.
  • NHL Career

    Berard was drafted first overall in the 1995 NHL draft by the Ottawa Senators. He continued to play for his junior team, the Detroit Jr. Red Wings in the OHL, then was traded to the New York Islanders on January 23, 1996. He made his NHL debut that same year and played with the Islanders until January 9, 1999, when he was sent to the Toronto Maple Leafs. During a March 11, 2000 game, Berard's right eye was severely injured. He missed the rest of the 1999-00 season and the entire 2000-01 season to undergo several surgeries to repair his vision. Berard signed as a free agent with the New York Rangers on October 5, 2001. He played one season with the Rangers, then one season with the Boston Bruins before signing with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2003. After two years in Chicago, Berard signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets on August 3, 2005. He missed the majority of the 2006-07 season with a back injury, then signed with the New York Islanders in 2007.
